powergorilla keeps GPS mapping going

"Thank you so much for the Gorilla-pad and connectors. They arrived yesterday and I was able to try out the system last evening; it all worked perfectly.

The GPS/mapping/phone stayed on and took the charge from the Gorilla continuously, even the phone battery was being topped up. It will certainly give me more than a full days usage either cycling or walking.

I have attached a few of photos of the set up on my touring bike. The Gorilla and pad go in the rear pannier, the cable is routed along the top tube and the phone is mounted to the handlebars. It all works very well and is very secure.

I would re-emphasize the fact that the gorilla-pad is compatible with a phone as it reduces down the voltage from 8.4v. to that required by the phone, which is usually 5v and provides the current at whatever the phone is drawing, up to a maximum of 2 amps.  I’ve calculated that this set up should give between 15 to 20 hours of continuous usage with phone, GPS, bright screen, etc, all on.

I’ve done a similar set up in my rucksack, with the phone in a waterproof pouch, attached to the waistbelt. I’m testing it in the Lake District in a couple of weeks time."
