Deep Everest: Annelie Pompe
Adventurer Annelie Pompe believes anything can be an adventure.
Annelie is a outdoor athlete, a world champion freediver and a climber. She feels as home at the bottom of the sea as on the top of a mountain or on a rock face. Amongst her achievements is a world record freedive to 126m, as well as being the first Swedish woman to summit Everest from the north side.
Annelie summitted the north face of Everest with a Powertraveller minigorilla and powermonkey explorer, allowing her to keep her gadgets charged during her expedtion.
Powertraveller distributor Uhrweder Sport donated the minigorilla and powermonkey explorer to Annelie to help her on her epic adventure.
"On Mt. Everest every gram counts. Every gram you don't carry counts even more. As I had to charge both cameras and satellitephone at high altitude I was completetly dependent on the powermonkey and gorilla for energy supply. I became most impressed by the powermonkey as it charged even inside the tent without direct sunlight! I used it as high as 8300m, topping up my camera batteries just before the summit attack (the cold EATS batterypower!). And both my cameras lasted for filming and take photos of the most beautiful moments of my life."
Annelie says of her expeditions:
"Fear is not to be feared. Fear usually starts with a thought of something that might or might not happen in the future. Since it's just a thought, and the thought is in your own mind, you should be able to re-think.
Fear should ba a natural part of life. It will tell you when and where to focus. And it will tell you a lot about yourself. Never let fear paralyze you into action. When you look deeply into fear, you will eventually see that there is nothing there."
